Their stories opened a window into the creative energy behind today’s most intriguing scents. This online series continues that exploration. Today, we turn to Rebecca Kirchmeier of Düllberg Konzentra, a perfumer whose work brings technical finesse together with a vivid, imaginative touch. How did you become a perfumer?
Becoming a perfumer was never something I imagined as a child. I always thought I would pursue a PhD and build a career in the food industry, but life had other ideas. My first job in the flavour industry unexpectedly introduced me to the world of fragrance. It was not a simple path, but I was lucky to meet mentors who recognised my potential. Heidrun Harder and Franc Schiet shaped me into the perfumer I am today, and role models like Anne Flipo and Sophia Grojsman have always stood out to me. Their creations feel thrilling, inspiring, and deeply innovative. That, combined with my adventurous nature, strong ambition, perseverance, and a lot of hard work, gave me the drive to follow this new direction. I now have the privilege of working in what has become my dream profession.

What inspires your creations?
Travel is my greatest source of inspiration. I find endless creativity in meeting new people, exploring different cultures, tasting unfamiliar foods, and discovering local traditions. There is something grounding about exploring new flavours and scents. They remind me how diverse and beautiful our world is.

What’s your dream project?
My dream project would be to recreate scent memories of loved ones who have passed away. I imagine working closely with people, listening to their stories and memories, and translating those moments into a personal fragrance that captures the spirit of someone they’ve lost. It would be a deeply emotional and intimate process, creating a scent they can return to whenever they miss that person, like a fragrant bridge back to memory and connection.

What is your latest niche perfume creation?
Candy Delight by Karl Kani. It’s playful but confident, with a sweet burst of fruits and florals that melts into warm woods, musk, and a soft touch of leather. It feels bold, feminine, and full of attitude. I wanted it to capture the tension between bright sweetness and deep sensuality. A scent that feels like a flirtatious smile with a mysterious edge.
