Kurkdjian takes us back to a childhood shaped by discipline, movement, and artistic ambition.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhile I trained intensively in ballet from the age of seven with different teachers, one being from the Paris Opera, I had to realise I was not meant to become a professional ballet dancer. I had to pursue another goal. So, I pursued couture. Unfortunately, I couldn\u2019t draw. A revelation came when I read an article in a French magazine about the world of perfumery and the perfumers behind the iconic fragrances: Jacques Polge, Jean Kerl\u00e9o, Fran\u00e7oise Caron, Jean-Louis Sieuzac, Annick Goutal. I realized that it wasn&#8217;t the fashion designer who created perfumes but that there were talented individuals with a special craft working behind the scenes. Then, seeing the movie \u201cLe Sauvage\u201d sealed it. I was completely captivated and knew, deep down, that I wanted to become a perfumer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Looking back on three decades of creation, Kurkdjian does not speak of reinvention, but of continuity. Others are designed to express an idea. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.franciskurkdjian.com\/uk-en\/p\/baccarat-rouge-540-eau-de-parfum-RA12232.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baccarat Rouge 540<\/a><\/span> belongs firmly to the latter.<\/p>\n<p>Created in dialogue with the House of Baccarat, the fragrance began as an anniversary commission, but quickly became something far greater.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBaccarat Rouge 540 was born from my very long friendship with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baccarat.com\/int_en\/?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAGnac-tX_VGQES6r5_X4MLlwQNmit9fooYOWPsvmHkL5RbUVTXLnnr4JFQE9gg_aem_y4J3gzmpThvuYMt5U3zvDQ&amp;utm_content=link_in_bio&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=ig\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the House of Baccarat<\/a><\/span>. In 2013, the President of Baccarat asked me to create an olfactive signature to celebrate their 250th anniversary. I wanted a scent to encapsulate the spirit of Baccarat in a bottle.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Kurkdjian translated crystal making into scent, inspired by Baccarat\u2019s signature red crystal, <em>\u201cRouge \u00e0 l\u2019or,\u201d<\/em> or red made of gold. The scarlet hue emerges when clear crystal mingles with 24-carat gold powder and is brought to fusion at 540\u00b0 Celsius. He sought to capture this paradox of transparency and density in perfume. Jasmine and saffron bring radiance and lift, while ambergris and cedar wood ground the composition.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt was imagined as a poetic alchemy.
